Default Timing Belt Help

Could use a little help. I have seen plenty of write ups on timing belt changes with hydraulic tensioners but not much on the mechanical tensioners. I am in the middle of replacing my timing belt and I placed the new one on and I can't see how I am going to get it around everything. When I compared it to the old belt it appeared the same size and the only way to remove the old belt was to remove the mechanical tensioner. Routing the new belt by hand without the tensioner in I can barely stretch the belt to just shy of the tensioner bolt hole. The box for the timing belt has the number that is on the FCP Groton website (026-1045) but looking on the belt itself it has 9440 383 written on it. Looking at the Contitech website didn't answer my question if this is the same belt. I am going to take the belt off again and compare it one more time. Does anyone have any hints as to where to get some slack when placing the belt back on? Also just to make sure that I am routing the belt properly see if you can follow this verbal description. Around the outside of both Intake and Exhaust pulleys, around the outside of the water pump pulley, around the inside of the tensioner pulley, around the outside of the crankshaft pulley, around the inside of the idler pulley back around the outside of the intake pulley, if that makes sense. TIA

Glad you figured it out. I wouldn't have been any help, but I was remembering the time I changed my timing belt and thinking, "what did I get myself into?" It seems there are always little hiccups that end up wasting entirely too much time. It doesn't help that when you are adjusting one part, you can't see what the other parts are doing.

Anyway, like I said, glad you got it.
