Default Timing Belt Question

The engine number on my car stamped into an aluminum part at the front reads 1270568. The parts places say that "generally" this would be a direct ignition motor, mine is not, there's a distributor there. According to the parts break-down this engine number would have the hydraulic auto tensioner. Can I trust this? Should I plan to replace the hydraulic part as well as the entire timing belt kit? I've had some prior bad experiences with these hydraulic tensioners in my Mazda 929. Can the Volvo part withstand being compressed and re-used?

Thanks All.

If you want to be REALLY safe then you can replace it. I have reused them many of times.

It is easy to see exactly which setup you have. Just pull the cover and check.

Are you replacing the Idler and Tensioner Pulleys?

Yes, I will replace the pulleys and tensioner too. I am basically going to use a "timing belt kit" as specified at the parts places. Is there a parts place sponsoring this site? If so, I'd just as soon give them the business. Thanks.

No there isn't any parts places here as of yet.

Just look at the specifics and make sure the kit comes with the idler and tensioner pulleys.
Look in the General section in the post liks to sites and that might help you find a good price.
