Default which gear oil? transfer case? diff's?

ok my owner's manual doesn't list fluids for the diff's or transfer case...i guess they assume the owner will just let the shop do it for them..my local autoparts store lists just "gear oil"....for all. some diffs have clutches which require a friction additive.....what do you guys use in your cars?

Volvo uses their own "fluid" Im sure it just re-branded Mobil or some other company's but here is what they have for My car...
For AWD
Angel Gear Angle Gear Oil
AWD Rear Diff Volvo Rear Differential Oil for AWD models
Trany Mobil 3309 ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid (Quart)
I recommend that using IPD site Set Cars year and model the site work well and i have not found any problems ....
