XC70 (2001 V70XC) just dies randomly, perfect otherwise
2001 V70XC just dies or does not start randonly. After leaving sitting for an hour it always restarts and runs perfectly. There is no indication it is going to do this, just driving along, lose all power and glide to the side of the road. It has the latest volvo update for this vehicle as there was an issue about this. It is like the immobilizer has gone off, i can turn it over well, just not one bit of fire. I have never been able to check if there is a spark or not as it always (4 times in 2 months) happens away from home and my tools. I have heard that there is supposed to be a signal on the panel that says immobilizer activated, but mine does not show this. Anybody have this issue or have any ideas. There is no codes, the dealer does not know, I have changed the fuel filter thinking perhaps it was partially plugged, no use.
ps. hope no one minds, I will cross post in the V70 forum, as whenever i buy a part and say V70 XC , they always feel they are correcting me by saying "Ohhh, an XC70", I guess as it is the "cross over"year?
Thanks!

What's the mileage? Could this be a bad fuel pump? You might need to add a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel line and tape the gauge to the windshield. I know this sounds a bit crazy. If the fuel pump is delivering low pressure at times you will see it register on the gauge. The car may stall or lose power as the pressure drops. One other thing does this year vehicle have the fuel pump relay like the 1998-2000 models? Could be an electrical issue with the relay going bad.
