I am attempting to jump start my '99 Volvo V70XC. After opening the interior hood release I an unable to open the hood on one side. The passenger side hood latch opens properly but I can't undo the drivers side.

Any suggestions?

I believe I read on a previous discussion on this that there is an adjustment to the catch mechanism (that is difficult to find). Of course to access the adjustment, you 1st have to get the hood open! The typical technique has a person push down slightly on the offending side (it might have been pull up too), while another person activates the latch handle. Wish I could give better info, but a search of the data base should provide the info.

I have the same "security system" on my V70R - it takes 2 pulls to get the hood open. The first one spring one side. Then I lift the hood as far as I can (not much) and pull the cable again. The 2nd pull releases the other side. You may have to put something under the hood to pry it up (or have someone do it) while you're pulling the release.
