Default V70 D5 - ENGINE SERVICE URGENT when using kickdown?

Hello all, 1st post here

I've only had this car 10 days (2002 V70 D5 Auto) and the following problem has arisen.

Floor it, using kickdown, and the car will take off as expected then throw up the "engine service urgent" warning and go into limp mode. Limp mode seems to clear itself after a few seconds if you lift off the gas, otherwise you need to stop/start and it will drive fine again. The car will happily pull to the red line when just applying the throttle pedal to the max travel before kickdown so it seems this is doing something nasty??

I've not really used the kickdown until now so didn't spot this before. Done 600miles in the car and it drives perfectly otherwise, no gearbox nastiness that I can notice, all very smooth and in order.

The car is on 103k miles and bought from a second hand dealer so first thing is to ring them and see if I get any joy with a fix that way. Just to add, before I bought the car it had the common issue with the dash failing, the dash module was swapped out for a 2004 unit and all works fine, may be related????

It would be useful to know if anyone has any ideas what it might be?

Cheers.
