Default V70 Dome light is possessed !!

Dome light will not go off even when engine is started. If I push the center button, it will go off for maybe a second then back on. If I push and hold the center button, it may go off and stay off and it may not, but certainly as soon as the door is opened, it's back on to stay. The previous owners answer to this problem was to simply unplug it from the wiring harness (just figured that out a littl bit ago.)
Suggestions (other than unplug from harness and carry a flash light) ??

Does your switch have 3 settings(off/door activated/on)? Is it on in any or all of the 3 positions?

are you speaking of the switch up at the dome light/rear view mirror? If so, it's just a simple push button switch.

Added info for consideration - the courtesy lights that illuminate the front floor boards are working right. It's the over-head courtesy lights at the rear view mirror and over the back seat that are not behaving. And the car has a sunroof, if that matters. Starting to wonder if maybe the circuit board at the rear view mirror may have gotten wet at some time from the sun roof.

Considering your lower courtesy lights work properly then yes you may have damage on the light board. May be a failed resistor or a trace, but you will have to look on the inside to inspect.

I have important advice. Do not, under any circumstances, let your Volvo watch the movie "Christine". It might get more ideas.

Well, that's the direction I'm leaning right now. Guess it and the high beam problem I'm having can wait until after New Year when I have more time (says the unemployed guy!).

HaHa! Yep, I think there is a good ole fashioned exorcism in my future. After I thought I had a good compromise last night that would at least get me map lights to use, now they don't friggin work today.

Sorry to hear about that, but it should not take you long to at least unscrew the overhead light and give it a quick visual inspection. What's wrong with your high beams?

Yeah, once I figured out the trick, it really was no problem to get the doem light down. That's when I found the orig owner had simply unplugged the it from the harness in the head liner. But it a wonder i didn't break one or both of the little plastic tabs since I'm a firm believer that if at first it doesn't budge, get a bigger hammer.

I started a separate thread about my high beam problem. Not sure how to post a hot link, but it's only a few down from this thread in same forum:
