Default V70 Oil cooler

Hello, I have a 2001 new style V70 and have the sump off to replace the O-rings and clean the sludge out.

I am thinking of removing the square oil cooler that attaches to the sump for cleaning.

Can aybody tell me if the two lines that come from it carry oil or water?

There was a lot of sludge and I am wondering if it was pumped through these lines The square drain hole from the top end back into the sump was 100% blocked with sludge. Many thanks

ALANJACKSON2011 I believe you are talking about the coolant lines that run to the heat exchanger on the back of the oil pan. At least that is what they are on my 2002 V70 and on the wife's 2003 XC90. I wish the V70 had a drain **** on one of the lines like the XC90 it makes changing the coolant much easier.

Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes, that's the thing, fitted to the back of the sump by four torx screws. Thanks, Alan
