Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a '99 V70 and the previous owner had some old pieces of carpet laid down to protect the carpet in the back wagon deck area. My problem is that I'm unable to unlatch the passenger side fold down rear seat because the carpet got jammed between the seat and the wagon bed area.

The previous owner must have really forced the seat back, jamming the carpet piece in between, to get the seat to latch. Now there is so much pre-load force on the seat latch that when I push the lever to unlatch it doesn't do anything.

Doe anyone have any idea of what i can to do try and release the seat latch. The carpet is pink and really needs to go (ha-ha)! Any ideas are welcome!

Make sure that the latch lock is not on, it will stop the latch from releasing the seat.

 

Put your body pressure into the seat back and as you add pressure to the release, then pound the seat back with your elbow until you get it released.
