Default v70 service?

Hi, I am looking to change the spark plugs and oil filter on my V70 (Great car by the way!). I can acces the oil filter but was not sure if the plastic was the actual filter or just a cover whichlevered off or had to beturned with the help of a suitably sized spanner? With the spark plugs, how are you supposed to get at them, they do not seem to follow the usual pattern i.e. follow the HT lead to the end? Any tips gratefully received, Many Thanks

That plastic is a housing. Your car uses a paper filter. (Cartrige)
To get to the plugs you have to remove the top plastic cover of the engine.(Where is says volvo 20 Valve)
Then remove the coils on the top of each cylinder then you can remove the spark plugs.

You don't sound like you are very familiar with working on cars. Sorry if you are, it just came off that way.
I would suggest doing the plugs first, very easy.
1. go get the plugs and gapper from the local auto store; iridium plugs are great for performance/life.
2. remove the "volvo 20 valve" spark plug cover with the torx bolts
3. replace the plugs one at a time, or mark the wires 1-5 so that they are not crossed

For the oil filter.
1. drain the oil from the oil pan
2. after oil is out of engine, put plug back in.
3. remove the oil filter. should be hand tight, but a oil filter wrench may be required.
4. fill new filter with new oil and oil the filter gasket with your finger. install filter
5. fill engine with oil from the top of car.

Hope this helps.

Nick
