You might want to see if your battery was leaking Acid.
If the battery leaks acid it might have eaten on of the lines for the cruise control.
The cruise motor should be located under the battery tray.There should be a hose that runs from the motor under the battery tray and around the body.They are known to have a hole near or under the battery tray.You can stick a peice of rubber hose ove the plastic hose to fix it.
