Default V70 Won't Shift Out Of 1st Gear

Hi,

My '98 V70 won't shift past 1st gear when driving.

It was 100 degrees today and I drove it to the park today without any troubles; without the AC on. It sat for 25 minutes and then I got back in and started it to leave. I turned on the AC and everything seemed fine and I started to take off and noticed the "check engine" light was on and it wouldn't shift past 1st gear.

I was able to drive it 1 1/2 miles back home in 1st gear.

Anyone have an idea what is going on?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated,

Michael

Have to codes pulled then you can see from there.
Maybe a bad transmission.

I took it to the shop and they pulled the codes on it. The codes showed that there was an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor but they haven't started working on it.

What should I expect and does this sound reasonable?

Thanks

Michael

Yes a bad throttle position sensor can cause the problem. Not sure how much it should cost. I only work in the shop the prices are done in the office.
