Default valve body

Hi,

I have a volvo v70 T5 estate, auto, which has been running very rough for the last week, today a warning light came up saying trans oil checked at next service, i put it in the garage today and have been told the valve body has gone and they want £650.00 plus vat, would it be easier for me to purchase a whole new gearbox?

Any ideas, help would be appreciated.

Nicky

If you don't mind getting dirty you can test solenoids and change only solenoid(s) that are bad. I am not sure how volvo valve body difers, I did it on VW and I believe all auto transmission use solenoids in valvebody.
you can go to Vortex forum automatic transmission and get info you need.
good luck.
