Default Water Temperature Guage reading Zero after sensor replacement

OK, kind of a long story....I replaced AC compressor, etc worked great for a day then Radiator blew( only replaced 3 years ago..Nissen) replaced it this weekend...fist day water coming from reservoir, thought it was cap, then realized cooling fan was not operating. Plugged and unplugged connectors( I was in a business suit 30 miles from home) Finally left temp sensor unplugged and fan worked, but gauge was zero. Replaced thermostat, cap and sensor and everything works great, except temp gauge in car registers zero when car is at operating temp? I cannot find fuse or relay for it. Is it possible gauge was shorted out from plugging/unplugging connectors?
2001 V70 2.4T By the way, before fan quit working temp gauge was right in the middle where it always is, just pushing out coolant . Ideas?
