Ambient Temperature reading HIGH
Hey guys,
Has anyone had any issues with their ambient temp gauge? Mine been reading hotter than it should, and in the afternoons here in Alabama it has been passing the 140F mark and reading high. It seems consistently higher, even when you first turn on the car. It used to be very accurate. The engine temp seems to be rock solid, I wonder if it is the temp sensor going bad, or something making it read higher- like steam blowing on it?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

RE: Ambient Temperature reading HIGH
The OAT sensor bulb is embedded on the front air dam. See black plastic air dam right under the front bumper; there is a hole on the driver side (U.S model) and the sensor should be there. However, if the sensor has been dislodged/knocked out of the hole, it may be sitting/hanging closer to the engine, hence the higher temp indication. The location isn't the best to get accurate reading, and it always seems to read a bit higher than the actual temp, once the engine gets up to normal operating temp.
Or, on a rare occasion, the sensor may retire or the processor for the LCD indicator could malfunction. Techcould tell you better stories than I possibly could.
