I had to replace my crankcase ventilation system (oil trap) this past weekend. In the process of removing the valve cover and doing a cleaning of the top of the engine I found what appears to be a hole. It seems like something might be missing from this spot. Please check out these pics of the engine from my 1998 V70R. Is this normal?

 

Some cars use that hole for part of the Air pump system. But some cars do not. The motor on yours is not machined all the way down.
