just did my v70 front bearings - easy for me as I have a fully equipped shop. the bearing is sold as a unit with the front hub, which means that the knuckle needs to come off. Probably not the best project for someone who describes himself as not very mech. inclined. If you would like to know more, the UK version of the Haynes manual has good instructions. I can't help you with cost, but I believe each bearing/hub (I did both sides) was in the neighborhood of $100. good luck!
