Default Battery Replacement 2020 XC40

I've tried to get a quote from the dealership for a 2020 XC40 battery installation 3 different times over the past week. Still no answer.
If I replace the battery myself, would it matter if it was disconnected for 6 hours vs 15 minutes? Are there any major issues other than needing to get the software updated for the new battery?
Any idea how much a dealership would charge to update the software for the new battery?
Thanks.

I would look up the battery specs ( it’s probably a 740 rated battery) then go to an auto parts store (Advance Auto sells DieHard AGM batteries and they make a 740}. You could change it right there. That would be the best option that I see. If you replace it with the same rated battery it doesn’t require any resetting by the dealer. That is only required when you change to a differently rated battery. Other auto parts stores like AutoZone also sell a 740 AGM battery. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
In summary, I obtained various opinions on whether an electronic reset was required. What jmcamp54 stated jibes with what one dealership guy told me a few years back (with the absence of any warning lights) and is most likely correct. However, I didn't have the time to completely research this before my scheduled annual maintenance and had the dealership replace the battery.
Bottom line is that I could have bought an equivalent premium AGM battery and an ODP2 memory saver, done the job myself, and saved about $200. That's the additional cost for my wife's peace of mind. It's her car, so it was worth it this time.
BTW, for any readers of this thread who are considering their own battery change, here is an excellent how-to video for 2019-2026 XC40s:
Happy motoring!
