Why does the radio turn off every time I turn off the car?
This may be just a quirk of these newer Volvos but I find that every time I start my car I have to turn on the radio. When I first got the car the radio would stay on but now it requires a start each time. Is it just an annoying quirk or is there something going on with my system that I need to address (I'm also having problems with the bluetooth hands free speakers intermittently)?
I am in Australia and have a 2023 xc40 B5 Dark and have experienced similar and additional issues as has my daughter who has a 2023 xc60 plug in Hybrid. My issues are radio goes off and deleted "favourites", bluetooth disconnects, maps not available on main screen or dashboard, google not available, air-conditioning automatically turns itself on plus a few other odd things. A "Google" search reveals that this is a common problem on the 2023 models and Volvo is supposedly working on a "fix". My vehicle has been re-booted on a number of occasions to no avail and is now booked into the dealer on 14 June to be connected to their machine to try and determine what is causing the problems. All updates have been installed on the vehicle. I have been a Volvo owner since 1978 having owned 240, 245, 740 V70 and xc90 wagons plus S40 and V40 and find my xc40 to be the most unreliable and issue prone Volvo that I have owner in fact since "Geely" became the owner both the reliability and quality of some of the items fitted has greatly diminished.
what year/model is your car. On older cars, radios could be wired to the key or straight to the battery. I suspect on your car that a stored preference setting got wiped out (say when the car got the battery serviced etc). You can find the owners manuals etc online - just google something like "2023 XC40 owners manual" and find the factory link.
