2009 XC60 start up problem
Hey all,
I hope I can explain clearly about the problem im currently facing with my Volvo XC60 2009, without further ado, I'll explain it in details:
Recently after a week of changing the engine oil, an error pop up in my dash which says" Engine System Service required" so, I went to an independent service center which is well known in my area for servicing all kinds of cars (german, american japanese, etc) After checking this are the errors found:
1. P010100
2. P050B00
3. P017068
4. P117068
5. P061A62
6. P061B64
After finding out these errors, the mechanic cleared/removed the code then shut the engine off, however, when he started it again, the engines acceleration fluctuates... after a couple of minutes, everything went okay, (the engine service required is no longer on the dash) but he told me that the error will pop up again and said that its better if we go directly to the Dealer..
Now, on the next morning, when I was starting the car, it didnt start normally due to the engine starting in a cold start like feeling (couldnt really explain it properly but its like a cold start cause after 10-15 sec. the engine will go back to normal).. Additionally, when i first step on the accelerator, the engine seems like about to go off, then go back to being normal, then after that everything is okay, nothing wrong with the accelerator, engine and such..
Could someone explain to me what I should do?
Your assistance in this matter is highly appreciated.
Thanks!
R

Not sure about those codes - they kind of look like ECM codes with a few extra digits... Based on what you are experiencing, I'd think you may have a MAF issue or throttle body/idle air valve issue. Seems your mechanic didn't really know how to use his code reader or interpret the codes so you may want to go to a dealer or a Volvo friendly Indy to get the codes scanned again once the CEL light reappears (which it will if your engine is running poorly). Generally long cold starts can be attributed to MAF and related intake air metering issues or fuel pressure issues. It doesn't sound like you are a DIY type, but if you are, you can start by cleaning the MAF and throttle body areas using CRC MAF cleaner (not carb cleaner) to see if that helps. If not, you can have the dealer read the codes once the engine light comes back on (some will do this for free w/o the typical one hour shop diagnostic fee) but sounds like you have a sensor that needs replacing.
I'll indicate the comments for each Error Codes found. might be of help to understand more about the problem:
1. P010100 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance. General Failure Information. No Sub Type Information. DTC is Currently Active. DTC is Not Currently Active.
2. P050B00 - Cold Start Ignition Timing Performance. General Failure Information. No Sub Type Information - DTC is Not Currently Active
3. P017068 - Fuel Trim (Bank 1). Algorithm Based Failures. Event Information - DTC is Not Currently Active
4. P117068 - Engine Shut Off Solenoid. Algorithm Based Failures. Event Information - DTC is Not Currently Active
5. P061A62 - Internal COntrol Module Torque Performance. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal Compare Failure - DTC is Currently Active, DTC is Not Currently Active.
6. P061B64 - Internal Control Module Torque Calculation Performance. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal Plausibility Failure. DTC is Currently Active, DTC is Not Currently Active.
Additionally, yes, you are right, im not a DIY guy as I really am new to this things but is willing to learn more hehehe.
Your further assistance is highly appreciated.
Thanks
