Greetings. I have a 2011 XC60 with a loud squeaking coming from passenger rear. We had it to a mechanic and he replaced rear springs and shocks. The driver side spring was actually split in two. We got the car back and the squeaking is getting worse. Thinking trailing arm bushing??? Attached picture as best I could get from under the car on the ground. Is this a common problem? If it is the bushing is it safe to drive until we get it back into the shop?
Appreciate any feedback or guessesguesso what this could be.
Thanks! I beilive the noise is coming from trailing arm
squeaky bushings should not be a safety concern but I'd also inspect the springs to make sure they were installed correctly and properly seated in the perches. I've replaced 3/4 springs on our S40 - all the same issue - the last 3 inches broke off and then the spring end rubs on the perch. As to bushings - could be control arms, sway bars, sway bar end links. Usually you can see if a bushing is worn or cracked etc. I'd also check the exhaust to make sure there's not an issue with one of the hangers.
