2014 XC60 T6, Heated Mirror Failure
My Drivers Door Mirror heater failed shortly after a pressure wash last week (there a hint in there somewhere
). Movement is still OK.... just no heat for defrost.
Since I can't find a fuse for it.. and everything else works fine, I'm assuming my problem is in the power to the heating element or the element itself.
I'm just looking for the easiest way to check power coming to the heater, and also checking the impedance of it. (and the connections at the element itself).
I've seen a few videos of popping the glass off, exposing everything I need to get at.
Is this the best way to go???... Can it be done on a 2014.... and can it be reassembled after (without breaking anything during the process)
All advice would be welcome....... Mike

Did you search for a wiring diagram to see a connector pin out? I suspect you got water in a connection point inside the mirror's heating element as it doesn't look like there's a separate fuse for the heating element vs other mirror functions. Sorry I don't have VIDA but I'd bet the wiring and connector pin outs would be in there.
I don't have a pin out or diagram. I have VIDA 2014 "aftermarket Version" which doesn't have wiring diag's.
But after looking at the repair procedure in my VIDA, would it not just be easy to "pop" the glass out - exposing the wiring to the heated glass and the connectors on the heating element itself ? (Since I'm pretty sure that's where the problem lies") It looks much easier than removing door panels, connectors, etc.....
It's just the fear of messing with a piece of glass in the middle winter that scares me....
Has anyone else out there tried "popping" the glass out ??....
