I have the same tailgate problem with my 2012 xc60, tailgate opens ok but drops 100mm.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Mine does this sometimes. It sometimes will not open all the way. I have had to do a reset several times.

Just manually push the tailgate all the up, then press and hold the close button for 3-5 seconds. Release and then push the button again to close and then test to see if it opens correctly. If not, do it again.

I find it annoying but only a little.

The fix is a new actuator. I'll wait until it fails completely.

Default Xc 60 tailgate issues

I have a 2012 xc 60, when I open the tailgate with the remote it unlocks but doesn't open, when I close the tailgate with the button on the door it closes about half way and then stops as off it has an obstruction. Any advice? Thans

Thumbs up I owe you three beers!

Your tip is still doing good in the world. I had this very problem, and your fix with helpful thumbnails fixed it the first time. I am so proud, and gained much face with my wife. Now for calling the dealership and cancelling the service appointment!!

I tried numerous times both manually and automatic but same issue. Not wanting to tear into a fairly new vehicle I decided to bring it to the dealership in case a part needed to be ordered and they fixed it in minutes. The mechanic showed me that if you remove the cover that goes over the door latch, there is a cable that can get stuck in the wrong position. He said if it happens again they will order a new mechanism and it will be covered under warranty. I attached a couple pics to make it very self explanatory. Let me know if anyone has questions and hopefully this helps.

Chippa8 you are a life saver! I had this issue and after trouble shooting thinking it was electrical or mechanical failure I replaced the fuses with no avail and was about to start looking up replacement parts before coming across your post. Sure enough I checked mine and it was sitting about halfway, pushed it up as you specified and now it works perfectly! I owe you a beer! Seriously, I'm on the east coast in the US but I'll get you one somehow lol

Default A picture is worth many words

Thanks for the fix. I'd had a problem a few times and am glad for the advice. Hopefully the WD40 will prevent it happening again. Our issue was the tailgate not opening on touch of button or with key fob held down, but I could press the button and pull the tailgate up manually (heavy), so maybe it had unlatched but the servo wasn't raising it, or maybe it didn't unlatch fast enough. Only time will tell if it is sorted or not.
