2021 & need HomeLink help
I recently drove home my oh so pretty blue, brand new 2021 XC 60 inscription with lots of extras. My husband programmed the HomeLink so I could open my garage door without having an opener in the car. Except, I have to be no more than 15 feet away from my garage door to get it to open or to close. So I'm pulling in the driveway, go to open the door, and I have to get closer and closer & seriously, 15 feet from the door, it will finally open. My husband, (an electrical engineer by degree) researched the Volvo site & the HomeLink site for how to program--they had slightly different directions--made no difference. He replaced batteries in the remote. He tried searching to see if anyone else has had this problem. doesn't seem like anyone has. I took to the dealer to get the protection stuff on the car added & asked them about. The service manager had not heard of any issues but they are checking with Volvo. Has anyone else had this happen? Is that an acceptable range from Volvo? My husband just bought an Audi Q7--he can be in front of our house & get the garage door to open. We've had HomeLink on several cars & have never had this range issue. This is our first Volvo & it's just odd. Please tell me this isn't normal??? Advice or thoughts appreciated!
Have hubby check out the receiver side of the door opener :-) He may find a small wire that's actually its antenna - which he may be able to reposition or extend depending on the model. Plan B would be to repeat the training as well as to look for tips at https://homelink.com/ Good luck and post up how this works out.

Just brought a new XC60 T8 home for my wife on 12/31. I must admit, I had a bit of difficulty getting the Volvo buttons to learn the garage opener. I had to erase all of the codes in the garage and then it worked. The door opens as we approach it though our approach is from the side. It is definitely more than 15 feet as the opener is about 15 feet from the inside of the garage door, so I'd say it reaches about 40-50 feet.
Just brought home a new 2021 xc90. Did everything the same and works great. The HomeLink opened garage the end of the driveway as it should. There must be something wrong with the module on my new xc60. Now to see if the dealer will replace.
The dealer switched out the rear view mirror that has the HomeLink thing in it--the xc90 one that worked, with the one that was in my xc60. Works great now. All is good.
we have watched multiple videos, I've tried my wifes tried we cannot get the remotes to even program, or save to the car....tried the full reset and start from scratch and nothing......we also cannot get the Wireless Charger to charge our phones, we have Samsung and Motorolla, had an older Apple in there none will charge, and YES the charging was on in the SYTEMS MENU for wireless charge......Cheers
We also purchased 2021 XC90 T6.....Can you tell me how you programmed to the car we've watched HOMELINK videos and neither me nor my wife could get the car to save when trying to teach Garage Opener to the Mirror in vehicle, even cleared and tried from scratch....cannot get to teach/save to mirror....Our Wireless charger also doesn't charge any type of phone, and it is indeed turned on in the settings config menu.....Cheers....
Just brought home my dream machine (XC90 T8) and am having same issues. The HomeLink light inside the car (on the rear view mirror) flashes rapidly but I can't seem to get the car to talk to the garage door opener. Have watched numerous videos on HomeLink and YouTube with no luck. Have to return to dealership for something else in three days so I'll visit with technician there. Please let me know if you find something that works. Until then.....

Thank you for your response. I had been using a ladder and staying within the allotted 30 secs of the programming sequence. On about the 7th attempt (following Volvo Manual, YouTube videos, the garage door manual itself, it finally worked! We have a side entrance garage and live in the boonies where reception and Wifi are iffy, at best, and the HomeLink now works like a charm from a fair distance away. Loving it!
Hey, congrats on snagging that sleek 2021 XC60 Inscription – sounds like a dream ride! But man, it's a bummer to hear about the HomeLink blues you're dealing with. I can imagine the frustration of having to practically park in your garage to get the door to budge.
Your hubby's an electrical engineer? Well, if anyone can crack this code, it's him! Props for diving into the Volvo and HomeLink sites for answers – it's weird that they'd have different directions, though. And swapping out the remote batteries was a solid move.Heading to the dealer was smart – they've usually got the inside scoop on these things. But dang, it's odd that they haven't heard of this issue before. Your hubby's Audi Q7 sounds like it's got that garage door range game on lock – what's the secret sauce there? And hey, if all else fails, I stumbled upon this garage door repair crew that might have the Jedi skills to sort this out.

I had a similar issue where I had to get super close to the garage before it worked. We tried reprogramming, changing the batteries, the whole deal. Still, it was hit or miss until we found out from a local expert that some garage doors have compatibility quirks. They suggested we try a different approach or even adjust the antenna on the opener itself.
Speaking of which, if you ever need garage door help, check out https://portlanddoorsandlocksguy.com...-garage-doors/ – they were fantastic when we had to replace our old garage door. Their tips helped us tweak things just right. Maybe give the antenna adjustment a shot? It helped us get better range, so it might work for you too.
