5.0.5 software: navigation doesn't lower music volume?
I think I've noticed this change since upgrading the software to version 5.0.5 (2022 XC60 T8). Previously, when Google called out navigation directions, it would temporarily lower the volume of the radio or Bluetooth audio while speaking, then restore normal volume.
However recently it seems that the directions are spoken without lowering the music volume, making them more difficult to hear.
It's not a showstopper, but I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this? Could there be some setting I need to update?
Thanks!

Will one have to redo all the settings in Maps after deleting the cache and data? I was able to hear the navigation voice when I adjusted the volume for Navigation in volume settings, but it would be better to have the "other sounds" mute when Navigation directions are given.

Just wanted to report back: the problem automatically fixed itself in my case. I think I understand how, but I'm not certain.
If you expand the volume bar that appears at the top of the screen when adjusting the volume, it displays a set of volume bars showing you the relative volumes of all the different sources: media, ringtone, calls, voice assist, navigation, etc.
At some point I noticed that the navigation volume had been raised higher than the media (music) volume. I'm guessing when that happens the system decides it doesn't need to lower the music volume (since navigation is "louder").
At any rate I reduced the navigation volume to below the media volume, and once again the system seemed to consistently lower the music when navigation instructions were given.
Ironic that lowering the volume made them easier to hear, but that's what seemed to fix it.

Ceejay22, thanks for sharing your findings. Interesting concept that Volvo/Google has employed. It makes sense, just wish Volvo was more informative about changes, rather than make the user stumble across these sort of finds.
I have run a couple of tests on the Nav volume issue since your post. Originally, I had the Nav volume higher than the Media volume so that the Nav instructions could be heard over the Music. Then I set the Nav volume lower than the Media volume and found that the Media volume is not muted during Nav instructions, but rather the Nav volume is increased equal to or a bit higher than the Media volume so that the Nav instructions can be heard.
I have not been on the highway yet to see if the Nav instructions can be heard at highway speeds since Media volume is automatically adjusted at higher speeds.

Thanks for the research! My perception was that when the nav volume was set lower than media, the media volume was reduced so that the nav instructions could be heard. And FWIW this seemed to carry over on the highway as well. But maybe my ears were playing tricks on me and it really just increased the Nav volume; I'll have to pay closer attention. Thanks again!
