Anyone happy with the Bluetooth in the XC60?
I have a 2012 XC60 Type R. Love the car. The bluetooth sounds terrible. I have an iPhone 4s and everyone tells me the sound quality is terrible on hands free. Also, the sound of people talking is also not very clear to me. I mentioned this to the dealer and they performed software upgrades, etc. No changes.
Does anyone have it working to their satisfaction? Thanks.

We have a new 2014 xc60 T6 AWD and have had no problems with using both our IPhone 5's.
One thing we do notice if we R both trying to talk to the person listening on the other phone they struggle to hear the passenger side conversation and with where the mic is positioned it makes sense!

We also have a 2015 xc60 T6 AWD and have used iPhone 5S and iPhone 4S at times. No problem making and receiving calls and it is very clear. This is our first car with blue tooth built in so we may not be the best judges around but comparing to the speakers on the phone or after market blue tooth devices collecting dust, it is like a day and night.
Playing music has been very easy too. I have paired my phone once at the dealership and ever since, when I just start the car it plays music in random order from my iPhone automatically. I don't have to do a thing. I used to have to connect the cables from a fake cassette tape thingy in our old car and and go thru my phones to play music all the time. 8)

Hey Junster, agree with U on the ease to play off of the iphone! We have a 2007 VW Touareg and we "plug and play" to pair the phone to the radio! Not a show stopper but the first time we set up in the XC60 we were hooked
I have a new XC60 and the Bluetooth is good, although can be a bit slow to connect. However, I don't have the newest phone (original Pixel) so it may be partially the phones fault. I also use Bluetooth tethering for data connection, so I'm asking a lot of the system .
Call quality is really good, and there is a mic for both driver and passenger which is nice.

I have a 2015.5 XC 60 and he bluetooth sucks. I originally bought the same car at a different dealer and returned it due to this issue as I bought the car because I needed hands free. It' pretty disappointing. I have 3 phones and the issue occurs with all 3. In our 2008 XC70, no issues, the bluetooth works beautifully. My car is in for its 40k service now, they say there is an update that will fix the issue. I'm not the only one who made a dealer take a car back for the issue.
Now, if I could only keep the USB port from blowing.

Hey guys - I've got a 12 XC60 i've had for about a year and have had consistent bluetooth issues connecting with my iPhone 7. Some days it connects and is fine. Others, it will fail to connect at all until you shut the car off and start over. Randomly when connected, the music skips and stutters. I had it in for service a couple of months ago and they did software updates, but it didn't help. The phone connects for calls automatically without issue, but when you select bluetooth media, it's a tossup if it's going to connect and work properly. I'm pretty sure it's not the phone. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, when I give up and connect via USB, it plays for about 30 seconds, but then the bluetooth always tries to take over and so I can't use the USB unless I disable bluetooth on my phone. Frustrating.
Thanks!

I bought this used, paired my iphone with no problem, and bluetooth works well for phone calls (played through car speakers), but it will Not play music through the car system.
Does anyone know if the bluetooth capability is for phone only? I've never had a car that (if I couyld successfuylly connect) didn't do both, Thanks!

Yeah, I know, old thread. But, hey, OLD CAR!
Same issues with my '12 XC60 T6 (model level probably doesn't matter). Bluetooth is awful, basically unusable and went with a cigarette light based deal for $20 and it's MUCH better. Go figure, I assume Volvo had a prob with this model year.
BTW, I love how the OP says he has a 2012, and everyone with OTHER model years says theirs work great. Classic. ;-)
