B4204T11 Fuel Injector Replace
Hello,
I have a 2016 XC60 T5 with the gasoline 2.0l B4204T11 engine. The dealership diagnosed the fuel injectors to be bad. It has the the normal symptoms exhibited with bad fuel injectors.
Being low on cash right now, I would like to try to replace the injectors on my own. I have been searching but have not been able to find any instructions for this engine. Does anyone have a video or other instructions for how this should be done?
Thank you

A fuel injector is essentially a solenoid valve so to go bad, either the coil fries or dirt/debris gets in the injector and clogs the fuel flow. Since it would be rare for more than one injector to fry, I'd assume you need to have the injectors cleaned. A few things you can try 1) there are injector cleaning products like Techron that add detergent to the gas to help remove deposits. 2) newer direct injector engines can actually build up carbon deposits on the intake (gunk from the PCV?) as the intake air doesn't have fuel to clean the walls as it does with traditional FI systems. This is where you may want to research about "carbon blasting" (essentially the intake is opened up and walnut shells are used to remove the carbon). Generally this would be a 100K mile kind of thing if at all and suggests you may need to service the PCV oil separator as well. 3) The injectors can be popped out and there are services that clean them with ultra-sound machines. There's some content on Youtube as to how the injectors are serviced - I'd probably start by determining if your model is a direct injection (my guess it is) or traditional FI set up and then go from there. Search for "direct injection cleaning" etc. PS - Not sure how many miles you have or what fuel you run. For FI cars, its a good idea to run a tankful of name brand (ie 93 octane) premium ever few tanks as the have the detergents to clean the injectors right in the product. You may not get that with 89 or 91s or budget brands.
