Default Changing 2014 XC60 Transmission Fluid

Dealer reports that the transmission fluid in my 2014 XC60 is burnt and needs replacement.

I don't have the $$$ to have dealer do the work, so I want to do it myself.

However, I can't find anywhere how to do it.

I *have* found directions for how to do it on a 2014 XC60 T6. Is the procedure the same? Seems to me like different transmissions would have different details.

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if anyone (you) would provide some guidance.

Thanks!

Best regards.

It's a different model, but I imagine similar transmission fluid replacement procedure:
One thing to keep in mind, that Volvo DICE system required will probably cost more money for you to buy, than to have the dealer or good independent shop, just do the service.

each drain gets about 60% of the fluid out so after 3 drain fills you'd be about 90% new. the more sophisticated way on some models is to disconnect the transmission cooler and start the car, pump out 2 quarts, stop, add two quarts repeat until the stuff coming out is red and translucent... Now onto the real problem - you didn't say how many miles on the car but if the fluid is truly burn, then you'd want to drop the pan and inspect for debris...

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure if the reported problem is a routine or automatic addition to recommended service or if the trans fluid is actually burned.

Also, the car has 63,000 miles on it.

What's involved with dropping the pan? I'm wondering if that's going to put this job out of range for my skill set.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I'm just curious: Why is the Volvo DICE system required for this?
