Default Considering XC60 ~ Questions

Currently I have a 2006 XC90 and would keep it forever except it is on its last leg… burning oil and showing wear.

Test drove the 2023 XC40 and XC60. The 40 was claustrophobic so that is out. But little things about the 60 seemed annoying and frankly archaic for a $60k car.

I’m hoping my sales associate just didn’t know his stuff, but need confirmation:

1. Does the Apple CarPlay only work if the phone is connected with USB?

2. Can the auto stop (or whatever it’s called) function be turned off? And does the placement of the switch to start the car bug anyone else? Why isn’t it just a push button like every other car?

3. Is the only way to access the Polestar function through the touchscreen? While driving?? This seems ridiculously unsafe.

4. I use the manual shift option on my XC90. The sales guy didn’t know how to shift it when trying this mode on my test drive. Anyone use it?

Probably will not buy a 2023 because I was under-impressed. Leaning towards a 2019 as I think that year offers a hybrid. Anyone know if CarPlay is offered on the 2019?

Love my Volvo and safety features, but considering bailing and going to BMW… Thoughts?

Thanks!

Similar to you, I had to move on my 2011 XC90 Exec due to milage and natural aging.

My relationship with my 2022 XC60 is a love/hate one. I love its driving comfort over long journeys, but hate its IT Tablet (swipe and press) approach to frequently used controls and the complete pile of rocks its operating system software has been.

I always felt I could throw just about any condition at the XC90 and it would soldier on like a tank. The XC60 however feels more fragile and delicate feeling that I have to be more gentle with it for fear of breaking it. I’m sure its build quality is good (not quite on par with the Japanese) but I’m not so sure about its materials quality.

I also don’t feel as safe in the XC60 compared to my old XC90 in a serious crash with the XC60 feeling like it would crumple up like tissue paper.

How long a new XC60 will last in reality on the road is one we will have to see, but I can’t see one still being on the road in 10 years’ time.

1. Does the Apple CarPlay only work if the phone is connected with USB? You can also use Bluetooth

2. Can the auto stop (or whatever it’s called) function be turned off? And does the placement of the switch to start the car bug anyone else? Why isn’t it just a push button like every other car? Auto Stop/Start can not be turned off, yet you can disable it by shifting into "Manual" . Engine Start Switch is what it is.

3. Is the only way to access the Polestar function through the touchscreen? While driving?? This seems ridiculously unsafe. I do not know

4. I use the manual shift option on my XC90. The sales guy didn’t know how to shift it when trying this mode on my test drive. Anyone use it? Yes, manual shift works fine.
