Default Knee hitting console

Hello-

First time poster. I recently purchased a low mileage 2012 XC60. I love the car but have a minor issue. I am about 6’ 2”, and the seating position I am accustomed to leaves my right knee often contacting the side of the center console. My only solution may be to learn to sit in a different posture, as there doesn’t see to be any simple way to mount a pad or cushion on that narrow piece of chrome colored plastic that frames the console.

Has anyone else here needed to address this? Thank you.

I can’t imagine this happening unless someone sits bow-legged or manspreads while in the driving position. I’m 5’ 10” and my legs bend with knees straight no matter how close or far I adjust the seat position from the pedals. Yet, I recall a Youtube review by The Fast Lane Car in which one of the reviewers said he had the same problem as you in the XC60. BTW, he had a stocky body type.

I have the same issue but only after I've driven for hours because my body is tired and I'm "spreading out" trying to get comfortable. If it's really an issue for you, place a piece of foam between your knee and the console. If it falls on to the floor board while driving, foam isn't rigid/hard and won't block the brake peddle creating a safety hazard.
