I removed the stock footwell lighting and installed a LED strip. (12 VOLT) It works great. But I would like the LED's to remain on during the night when driving. Right now they auto dim after a few seconds. I asked the dealer if there was an option to have them on and they said no. The newer models have this as an option to stay on at night.
I rewired and extra strip using the 12 volt accessory jack in the cup holder by wiring them into the harness below the cup holder. They do work that way but are very dim compared to the strips in the footwells. Don't know what the problem is.
Check voltage and reads 13.65 volts with power on.
I am at a loss of why they are so dim compared to the same units I installed in the footwell.
Also trying to find out if there is a green harness that is prewired under the center console named "ILLUMINATION CABLE," my understanding that this is prewired but can't verify it.
Any suggestion on why the 12volt accessory power is so dim?
Or suggestions how where to rewire these footwell LEDS to stay on and shut off when the engine???
