Default low battery

good afternoon , i am new to your forum but have been on many others. i see a wealth of info here and have a quick question. after getting a low battery icon on dash in tach area, i replaced the 5+ yr old battery. some days later , the same warning pops up if i shut car and use blue tooth or have radio on . although hit says system shut down in 2 min. it doesn't go down. is there a way to re set the warning? i know how to re set maintain remainder, but that way doesn't work. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks agin

have you tested the voltage at the battery terminals? If you didn't do so on the initial install, use a terminal cleaning tool to scuff up the cable terminals and the new posts then retighten. use a battery terminal sealant is a good idea and usually comes with a battery terminal kit. I'd also inspect the cables for any signs of corrosion or bad insulation/bubbles, particularly around the terminals. You may need to clean up the connection to the alternator, starter motor and ground strap where it meets the chassis as well.

Quick follow up ... inhad good voltage with car cold and on start 12.3......14.5 when cold start running. Further exploration shows that rhe low voltage will go away after car has been run for a good time. I suppose all new batteries are somewhat charged when acid is added , bur not to max capacity. So cars sensor actually ‘sees’ this and thus low voltage warning. Who woulda thunk it !? Lol
