Default Need idea on pricing on a used loaded XC60

I'm considering buying a 2011 XC60 T6 AWD with 65k and Volvo certified to 100k. The dealer is saying it has pretty much every option without being an R design. It has the Polestar upgrade, tech package, climate package, blis, running boards, 18in wheels with upgraded rims, nav, all the sensors, upgraded leather, stereo. Its white ext with black int. It was VERY fun to drive after driving my S80. Problem is they only came down to $28900. Still seems high but hard to price because the internet sites don't show all the options. I feel I shouldn't pay over $27k. Thoughts?

try using KBB.COM

Kelly Blue Book takes sale records and VINs to estimate the market price for dealer sale, private party and trade in values. I plugged in numbers and for my area (Fairfield County CT ) and KBB says for a CPO XC60 "loaded" is 26K to 28K so I think your 27K estimate is spot on!

Also search for similar models in your area using Autotrader.com. I did that when I was shopping for my VW CC (also a CPO model). I found a $3K price range and wound up buying on the low end of the price range from a place 75 miles away, well worth the drive...

This is really very simple. Used car values from KBB and the like mean absolutely nothing and they only thing they accomplish is to screw with your head. With tools like cars.com, autotrader.com, etc., you can get real time pricing. Not data that is mined from reported sales that takes a month or more to sift through. On top of that there is a condition aspect that no book price will ever be able to account for. Shop hard near and far and make your best offer. A car, or anything else for that matter, is worth what it is worth to you and the dealer or person selling it has a similar perspective. If the dealer is willing to let you walk out the door without closing the sale then you have got their best price or very close to it. Just decide if that particular car is worth that to you and buy it or don't. It really doesn't matter what KBB or members here have to say.

Happy to report that on Monday morning the dealer emailed to ask if they could do anything else. I explained that all my research said I should pay no more than $27k, and that was still my offer. They took the deal. Not sure if they just wanted to play games, or just decided wanted the sale after all. Cruising on our first road trip in it now!

Good for you!

On used cars there is really no way to tell what motivation is behind the dealers pricing. They let you sit for a few days hoping you would give in and it sounds like a relatively rare car, but they may have had another offer or two that was lower and decided they better take what they could get.

Believe it or not the dealer is just as capable of paying to much for a used vehicle as a customer is. As a used truck manager for a Kenworth dealer ask me how I know
