Default No tailgate foot sensor in 2022 XC60 models?

Just got my 2022 XC60 inscription model and the sales person told me that there is no foot sensor even though my car is equipped with a power operating tailgate. She thinks this feature was removed due to the chip shortage. She also said there would be a sticker on the bottom of the tailgate door if it did have a foot sensor. I noticed there is a sensor right where the foot sensor should be underneath the left center area of the bumper. Any idea what this could be and if Volvo did remove this feature?

I had a very lengthy thread about this with my dealership and Volvo customer service. Eventually I was able to contact the sales manager, who contacted Volvo about this. Apparently some vehicles are missing this and Volvo is working on a kit. They couldn’t tell me when it would be available but they said it will be added later.

Yes, some did not have it. When delivered, there is a sticker right on the rear window saying it is not equipped due to the global chip shortage.

My 22 XC60 T8 recharge did not have a sticker nor the sensor. Volvo dropped the ball on the 22 XC60s despite their heavy adverting of it in the USA,

FWIW, my 2022 XC60 delivered 2 1/2 weeks ago (in the US) does have the sensor and it works fine. Never saw a sticker.

Just bought a V90 a couple of weeks ago! Loving it but...... Also no kick activated tailgate.
Seller and dealership in NL are unable to get it working, they say it's not possible to retro fit it.. So I'm considering an aftermarket install. To my surprise, while looking under the bumper, I notice there is a sensor mounted. White bracket with two antenna's and a black box with three plugs and wiring fitted. So why is it not working? Is a dummy installed? Or do I need a computerchip somewhere else in the system that is missing from the early 2022 MY Volvo with Google Aaos?
What are the dealers in the USA doing to get it working? I know the v90 is no longer available in the US but the V90cc is, and I assume the xc60 retrofit is also not that much different to other models.
Also wondering if an aftermarket system would work, or give problems with the keyless entry system or other systems like the parking sensors.
Anybody already receive a retrofit activation of the kick sensor ?
This is what I have in my rear bumper.

Just an FYI. When I ordered my XC60 Plus in August, the $200 optional power tailgate included the kick to open feature. The build site does not show this as part of the option any more. My guess is that it has been de-contented because of the chip shortage. It will be interesting to see if my vehicle has the kick to open option. Personally, I would just as soon not have that part of the option, so I won't care if it's missing.

I'm specially interested in what is missing. And how it can be retrofitted. Seems the supply is still a problem if the sensor is now (temporary?) completely withdrawn !

interesting to see that the kick option is still provided if you order a XC60 or other model in the Netherlands....

Looks like Volvo is rationing the chips by market in some cases.
