Paddle shifter safety issue

Paddle shifter safety issue
I have a 2017 XC60 R design, which has the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Had a good scare this week. It is cold out here in the Northeast and I was wearing a coat that falls just above my knee. I made a right turn in my car. The paddle shifters turn with the wheel. When the wheel started to return to center position, the paddle shifter became caught in my coat, making it impossible for the steering wheel to turn. It took me a moment to figure out what was going on and why I could not control the steering. Luckily I was at a low speed and was able to correct before hitting other vehicles. I will be reaching out to Volvo, but wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue??? I had it catch on a skirt one other time, but as the skirt was light, the steering wheel was released very quickly. Not nearly as scary as this time.

Sounds scary. However, the paddle shifters are almost hidden behind the spokes and protrude less than other brands/models. I can see them potentially being caught on a dangling bracelet or necklace, but hard to imagine getting caught on a coat or skirt. The steering wheel should not have any physical contact with your thighs or legs when positioned properly, not to mention the paddle shifters.
