Default Software 2.9

Appears that software 2.9 is out. I tried to update via OTA (in USA) however I'm still on 2.7 - no updates available.

https://www.volvocars.com/en-th/supp...-release-notes

Updates in software 2.9

  • You can now switch between Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with the left steering wheel buttons. More information about Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control can be found in the Owner’s manual after the installation.
  • New features in Apple CarPlay:
    • Apple Maps is now available in the driver display.
    • “Play/Pause” and “Next/Previous” buttons are available in the Apple CarPlay tile.
    • “Now Playing” information is available in the Apple CarPlay tile.
    • Phone call information is available in the Apple CarPlay tile, driver display and HUD (Head-up Display). Phone calls can be handled using the buttons on the steering wheel.
  • Added an option in Controls settings to fold door mirrors when locking the vehicle. Your choice will be connected to the currently used profile.
  • Improved stability of the infotainment system.
  • User profile is now correctly switching to the currently used key.
  • Radio channel is unchanged when starting new drive cycle.
  • Drivetrain optimisation adjustments.

My brand new USA 2023 XC60 (just came off the boat a month ago) says it is at 2.7 but there are no updates available and it is at the latest level. Was there a 2.8? Are updates staged so if there is a problem not everyone is blown out of the water all at once?

There is a 2.8 update but that is not an OTA update. 2.9 when it becomes available would include any updates from 2.7 that you have now.

Patience is a virtue.

I should add that there are 2 parts to OTA updates.

1 - software is downloaded while you are driving and can occur in sections if not completed without anY owner involvement.

2 - the actual installation is initiated by the owner and you will receive notice on the main screen. You MUST follow instructions and once you start the process and leave the vehicle and lock the doors you MUST NOT OPEN THE DOORS UNTIL THE INSTALL IS COMPLETE.

Default 2.9 installed

Got 2.9 installed this week while at the dealer for my 20,000 mile service. The car seemed slightly more responsive/smooth while driving home. I have an Android phone, so a lot of the 2.9 changes don't apply to me. I hope that this version will reduce the times I have to reset the infotainment system while driving.

I’m in Australia and have been looking to get the 2.9 update, but not available yet. My 2023 xc69 T8 came off the boat with 2.8 installed.

Default Software 2.9

Hi All, in Denmark the 2.9 update is not available yet, at least my center display is not allowing yet the download, indicating 2.7 being up to date. Having an early 2023 xc60 recharge with currently 2.7 update installed. Can not wait for this latest one so finally can have Apple Maps in drivers display. Last time 2.7 was downloadable OTA, about two weeks after it’s official release. The intermittent versions like 2.6 and 2.8 can only be installed by Volvo service, at least here in DK.

Can anyone explain the above? I don't see those two options as mutually exclusive (things you can "switch between") although I never use Pilot Assist so I probably am missing something.

I would like to see the ability to switch Lane Keeping Assist on and off. There is a lot of roadwork going on in my area and lane markings are not always well defined, or they come and go, making the LKA behavior a bit uncertain. It would be nice to be able to switch it off when driving through these confused sections.

Hey all,

I am new on this forum. first post!
I updated the software on my XC90 from 2.7 to 2.9
unfortunately for me it was a big mess! Now my car won't connect to the internet. I mean it can't see available networks over wifi and I need to manually connect my phone with bluetooth every time I start the car. I don't know what to do now. Dealer said 2.9 is not stable at this point and I need to wait for a new update. I feel scammed

Sorry to hear that! Dealer can't do anything for you? Like roll back to 2.7? Or maybe 2.8? I believe 2.8 is a dealer-installed version.

I have been waiting for 2.9 for my 2023 XC60. Now I'm glad it didn't show up yet! If it becomes available, I'll pass on it until it proves itself.

Hi All, had the 2.9 update performed by Volvo service. Took them about 30 min and there was no charge. Works as intended, love the Apple Maps in the driver display and the new function of switching between Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control especially where road markings are missing, also the other  CarPlay improvements. Hope Apple Maps will come to HUD soon so the transition from Google maps to Apple Maps will be completed once for all for me.

After we received the notice from Volvo and we parked our 2023 XC60, we followed the instructions on the display, locked and left the car in the garage for the night. The 2.9 update was installed without any issues.

One thing I did notice, which is an annoyance more than a problem, is that the car no longer glides forward or backward when you lift the brake from a dead stop and start/stop (green icon) switches into idle. This makes it more difficult to parallel park and is taking some getting used to -- starting from start/stop it's easy to jerk/jump a little. I've pointed out to Volvo Customer Service. Anybody else experiencing this?

Is the Auto Hold Brake possibly engaged? That is the A button just forward of the console and an "A" symbol will show on the dash. Those behaviors are indicative of Auto Hold activation.

Very interesting prediction actually.

Interestingly, since Software update 2.11 has been installed starting from engine off/stop mode has been smoother. The stop function still holds car when the brake is released, but the switchover to acceleration is much improved (or I'm getting used to it???).

Default Ota 2.11

I too have noticed improved acceleration since the 2.11 has been installed. Have others found that you get a few more kms when the car is charged up in warmer weather?
