Any suggestions to make the process of lining up the bolt holes while putting a tire on with the bolt lugs?

 

Yes, if you don't have the tools and/or don't know then see your dealer or a tire store. It's not like changing a tire on a bicycle.

 

Buy some M14x1.5 wheel alignment pins like these (1 works, 2 is better, easier):

 

Yes - it can be difficult to line up the bolt holes especially when tire is barely off the ground - much easier when car is on a lift.

Why car companies try to reinvent something that isn't broken is a mystery to me. A perfectly good solution for every other company is lugnuts, but Volvo has to be different. What is the perceived benefit of bolts versus nuts. I would love to know. Don't get me started on oil filters. If you change your own oil, you appreciate canisters versus paper filter replacement. That's why I dread changing oil in my Mazda. I could go on. Just stop it Volvo. Argh
