Default Trunk release

I have a 2010 Volvo xc60 t6 the truck won't release the lock however you can see the door twist to open. Does anyone know how to release the lock?

Thanks a million in advance

It’s not clear what your problem is, but if you manually lift the tailgate after pressing the latch button it should open. It will not damage the tailgate. Normally, the lift gate is in automatic mode, but the second press of the button puts it in manual mode. Another issue can be that the motorized strut is stuck or not working. Again, you should be able to open it manually by lifting. Lubricate the strut or have it replaced as needed. Sometimes it just gets stuck in cold weather. Lastly, if it is the same as 2014-17 models, the automatic tailgate will open if you hold the trunk release button on the key fob for a few seconds.

the strut is working to open it's just the lock is not unlocking you hear a loud noise for it to unlock but it just doesn't budge.

Can you open the lift gate to expose the latch? Inspect the trunk lock actuator motor. This is the latch at the bottom and center inside the door. It is held by three screws and there is a plastic sheath covering the lock. First, there is a cable that can break or slip out of place. Try to reattach the cable, otherwise you need to replace the entire lock actuator if the cable is broken. If the latch itself is stuck, try to release it with a screwdriver. If it is not the cable, latch or actuator, you probably have a broken switch in the handle. But since you hear a noise when pressed, it does not appear to be the switch.

My 2011 XC60 back hatch would not open as I had shut it too hard one night. I had to use a pry bar to pop it open so the mechanic could replace the latch/lock. Not pretty, but done carefully you can do it without damaging it.
