Default What caused +2mpg increase in 2011?

I consider XC60 3.2L AWD, 2010 or 2011 MY, w/EPA fuel consumption specs of 16/22mpg and 18/24mpg, respectively.

I'm curious if member knows or suspects reason(s) for the improved economy. Did 2011 see different hardware, software, or both?

More importantly, is there financially viable method to modify the 2010 MY to achieve 2011 MY fuel consumption spec? (2011 also makes 5hp more-less than 2%-which I would take, but is of much less interest.)

Thanks very much!

Joseph
