XC60 2022 Nothing but problems
Hi there,
First time poster so forgive me if in wrong area. I bought the new XC60 2022 last month and so far its been nothing but a headache. Volvo cannot take the car to investigate for a few weeks so I am hoping to get some advice here. 1. TPMS system warning. Comes on intermittendly. All tyre pressures are green in Car status. Seems to be the monitoring system at fault. 2. Rear sensor for opening the rear door. Worked once when the sales agent gave me a demo when collecting the car. Never again. 3. Volvo on call. Stopped working last week. Says I need to pair a phone which is already paired. No option to remove it. 4. Google services not working. No radio, no DAB etc. Just stuck on loading data.... Is there anyway to do a reset of sorts to at least get some functionality to restart and have a radio again? Regards, |
same problem
I’ve got my new 2022 xc60 few days back and rear sensors for back door opening not working..
wireless charging generating heat while charging mobile apple carplay/ android auto are not available.. dealers kept saying they may come with future updates .. don’t know exact timelines |
Both Kegs Mcsorley and vynu, everything you described should be setup and explained to you by your dealer. I spent 20 years in the business and my strength was product knowledge. I've never heard of dealers telling you features that were indicated on the window sticker may need future updates to work. Take your cars back to the dealer and ask for a 'tech' specialist to help set your car up and explain it to you. Embarrass them if you need to !!!
My dealer spent about a half hour helping 'me' to set the car up so I would know how to plod along further if needed. Sometimes playing with all of the features in the setup screens can inadvertently turn something off. As far as the updates, that is probably the maps updating. If so, you can stop it from updating a section of the country you're not likely to travel to, otherwise just be patient and let the updates happen. Other features can update that way as well. Hope you wind up enjoying yours as much as I am mine. |
Xc60
It seems to be the problem not only by one car, i have the same car from 1.7. And same things happen also to me.
ICup is no working- who the f..k did this system? heating by mobile charging is enormous same problem by TPMS also can we write an email directly to volvo-to the engineers Radio DAB/FM even not working , if there is no spotify i cant hearing any music or news bad bad bad system my volvo dealer says it wait there an 2gb actualisation ,i dont know what is it and if this help same problem by volvo no carplay for ios -impossible in 2021!! why volvo chose the unstable system from google? Everytime problem by start the system no functionality |
Volvo might very well have committed suicide by relying on Google for such a critical piece of software since it is not just infotainment but it controls a lot of things on the car. Android is fun for use with toys, it iis a piece of spyware and is designed to be free in exchange of pumping data to Google. Not sure who would want it to run their cars. I got burned really badly in the smarthome space and never will touch it again as they fight really hard to stop you from blocking their data thieving. It is not future proof and is unreliable/unsecure by design as it requires a lot of support and update and Google may at any time drop support for it as they have with so many of their projects and products.
If I were you guys, I would just return the car. |
Well this post is rather unsettling. I am planning on visiting a dealer this weekend to look at a 2022, but after reading this I am having doubts. I researched the 2022 XC60 and it seems to get solid reviews. I will have to research more specifically on issues with the 2022.

Regards, The new Android Automotive OS doesn't run the critical functions of the car. That is handled by a separate kernel and processor. Android shares a video buffer with the critical OS so that it can show the map on the instrument panel, but it does not run any of the essential functions of the car (charging, instrument panel, engine, sensors, etc.). Click the Settings gear in the bottom right corner, go to System, then Reset Options, then Erase all data (factory reset). |

Read from the top to the bottom of this chain How to activate wireless charging? - Volvo Forums - Volvo Enthusiasts Forum . It seems someone figured out how to do a factory reset that seemed to correct all of these issues. These are really pretty sophisticated cars and dealers need to do (sometimes) a better setup (PDI) and customer introduction to the way things operate. Also, they come with a really great warranty and "on-call" you can use at anytime 24/7. If/when you get one, make sure you find out who the "tech guru" as your dealer is. They will offer lots of good info that's factual. |

Thank you for the advice. I will continue to explore the option of purchasing one and whilst talking to the dealer include additional questions about the issues noted here.

A bit concerning on newer models
Reading through this thread I find it very concerning as the reliability of the xc60 or 90 lineup had been going downhill with numerous tech issues. I own a 2020 Xc60 and have been following this forum. I notice majority of the people having issues own a xc60 later than 2019… my xc60 after driving for a year had just been doing it’s basic job. Getting to point a to point b.
all the news about chip shortage resulting in features removed for Volvo leads me to believe they messed up the car overall performance and features |

The Outback had a stalling issue and dealers couldn't find the problem. I recalled how pleased I was with my '88 240DL manual shift, back then...drove that car 200,000 miles. This XC60 is my second Volvo. I agree with the previous post, about contacting your dealer for proper setup. Also, I suggest first reading about the settings. And, consider searching YouTube for instructional videos about the XC60. And most importantly for me, plenty of sitting in the car, at idle, and doing trial and error with the menu. I probably sat in my car for ten hours during the past week, going nowhere, learning the settings. And, I had to call Volvo customer service to properly setup Volvo OnCall, to link it with the phone App. But, for every other "malfunction", I eventually sorted it out myself and everything does work...it took time for me to discover the details and methodology of the menu. I have no regrets for this Volvo purchase. I've already driven it about 1000 miles, currently headed West on vacation, with 1000 more miles to be driven over the next two days. Today, driving it was a great and comfortable experience...not even tired. My XC60 runs and drives great.
And after 3 months of ownership, I still pull out of the garage after reading something in the manual or something someone said on this forum to check a setting or two before driving down the road (like you said). These cars today are best described as multiple computers linked to each other and 4 wheels with up to two engines and 400 HP (T8) |

Hey guys,
new Volvo owner here (also English is not my native language so please exuse my spelling). Volvo car has been a dream car for me for like 8 years. Now I have Volvo XC60 2022 and not sure what’s going on. 1) no remote start. Unbelievable. Volvo says they will update the app and the remote start will be available soon. Keep waiting. 2) weird thing happened yesterday while drivingDisplays went off while driving. The main display went pink and then completely off.The driver display went all yellow. AC and music was off.Had to park, stopped the car, started it over again. The driver display kept yellow, the main display booted back up in about 15 seconds. After that the driver display turned back to normal. 3) Starting today - Emission system sign illuminates. No idea what could cause it. The car has 500 mileage. I’m having a long trip (about 5 hours drive one way) next week and now really worried. Made a service appointment. But the nearest available service appointment is in 2,5 weeks. 4) map on driver’s display was off today. For now reason. I’ve been having this car for just 2 weeks and so many issues already. So frustrating. I hope I didn’t make a mistake buying this car. |

Welcome, and sorry you're having these issues. I'm not sure where you are or what you have to do to obtain service but here in the U S, you can make an appointment (as you did), or many times just drive in if it's urgent. Being as your car is new, I'd certainly try that and see what they can do. It's a great car with a great warranty but you have to be able to use it.
Great luck, let us know what happens please. I am in North Carolina. Local dealer told me that they were extremely busy and it would take days to diagnose the car if I just drive in. so not sure what to do here and how crucial the emission system fault is. I think I’ll give them another call tomorrow. |

Possible cause of maladies; un-prepped new cars ???

I think I’ll give them another call tomorrow. I just can't believe Volvo is shipping cars that aren't ready as I seem to be reading here. I'm more inclined to believe some dealers are doing shoddy Prep's. This Covid crisis has hit in many ways and not being able to keep qualified mechanics may be the cause of what we're seeing here. So many of the new owners '22 models seem to be having luck doing a factory 're-set' on their car. If it's something the dealer just hasn't done but should, it doesn't speak good for the dealer. And don't forget, with your new Volvo, you got 'Towing' for life. |
