Unhappy 2001 XC Fluid Leak Interior Driver's Side

Discovered a puddle of odorless, colorless (almost) liquid under the floormats on the driver's side of my XC. Lifted the floormat and it appears to be a light green color in a puddle. Popped the hood and didn't notice any low fluid levels for the brakes or power steering. How could this stuff get inside? Saw an earlier post for a S60 where somebody thought it was power steering fluid. Has a slightly greasy feel. Could it be engine coolant? Thanks, Da Deuce.

Could be a heater core leak. Where do you live? Any chance you live somewhere warm and have been using the A/C? Could be water from the A/C condenser if your drain tube is blocked.

green and slightly greasy? I vote for a coolant leak....heater core!

Check my thread out on my S70 intermittent cooling leak for more detail.

My experience was similar...a slow leak on driver side of coolant. The problem was in the heater hose fittings going through the firewall. If it is wet on passenger side I agree the heater core is more likley. These fittings have o-rings that expand and contract with heat and wear over time to a point that they let coolant drip on the rug (during warm up) right above the gas pedal. Sounds ugly but a pretty easy fix ... just hard to diagnose.

Smile Leak Plugged!

Yeah! Thanks everyone for their comments and suggestions. It turned out to be the O-rings in the heater core. They had deteriorated over time and were letting the coolant leak all over the drivers' side floor. My mechanic is great and didn't charge me for the repair since I had just bought the car from them about 3 weeks ago. Cheers, TCDeuce..
