My turn to voice pain/agony about a burned out zzz-Xenon headlamp.

Need detailed instructions on how to replace bulb assembly and ballast. Have caught snippets of where ballast is located, but all videos/instructions reflect 2007 later models. These folks were lucky enough to have pop-out headlight assemblies. No such luck for us oldies, where front bumper must also be removed to remove light assembly? Appreciate any links/attachments that will assist with my trek of avoiding sticker shot of taking my "baby" to dealer for a hi/lo beam headlight change. Also, if the lo-beam (DLRL - non-xenon) was the only burned bulb, would that cause the entire system to fail?
