Default Light bulb fell into headlight assembly

So I was replacing the driver's side bulb (the one just below the low beam bulb) in my 2006 2.5t S60 and as I was carefully pulling out of the headlight, it came off and fell into the headlight.

I'm trying to figure out a way to get the small bulb without having to remove the headlight/bumper or worse yet, bringing it to the dealer.

I'm hoping someone has encountered such a problem and may offer some advice. Thanks guys.

no need to remove the bummper

2 bolts (I think on those models) hold the headlamp assembly in place.

disconnect the wiring harness

remove airbox assembly since drivers side (just pops out, push it aside)

pull assembly put while pushing from behind.

once removed from car, you have metal clips that hold on the lens to the body. remove clips. bulb will just fall out.

assembly is the reverse order of how you took it apart.

If you damaged the seal for the headlight lens, use a fine bead of silcone to keep it sealed.

Put some tape on the end of a hose or something and fish it out in 10 seconds.

^^ I have actually tried that before RSPI, and I didn't have any luck. maybe I made the "tape hose" wrong.

Yeah, the tape on a wire is incredibly hard at best. Remember, we're talking about the wedge bulb under the low beam. You can't get anything thicker than a AAA battery through that opening. Plus, it's tough enough just to work your hand into the back of the headlight let alone wiggle a wire.

Still, I tried it and no luck. I went ahead and ordered this guy

So it's like dropping something behind the dash huh? That sucks. What happened to the good old days when you pulled the socket out of the assembly and changed the bulb with no risk of it slipping out of your fingers and falling out of sight just to haunt your dreams and make you wonder when it will short some wire and catch the car on fire while driving on some abandoned road when you don't have any food or water ... Utum, excuse me, my fantasy fears are surfacing again. Where is that little orange bottle when I need it. LOL
