My 2007 XC70 with 75K miles has started making a loud hum from ac compressor.

I can hear it go on or off at times, but the A/C functions properly.

I have an extended warranty purchased from Volvo but actually thru their Infiniti line good till 105K. The Volvo dealer agrees that compressor is making the noise, but they claim that while it still functions, warranty does not replace.

Questions:

Will the compressor fail before warranty runs out?

Is there any way to stop the loud hum, which is annoying?
