Default Climate Control - help please

Hi everyone,
Looking for some help - I screwed up this time. Long story - please see this link:
http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8719

I removed my center console to replace the bulbs behind it that had burnt out. In removing it, I physcially unplugged it. I replaced the unit, and then it no longer worked. Now, I am wondering what I have to do get it fixed, and I have many questions.

1) Do I really need an entire new unit - it was working before I did this, can it really be ruined by simply unplugging it and plugging it back in?
2) If I do need a new unit, does it have to "brand new" or can I get a used one - dealer says it must be new, that these units are only useful for one car.

The link above contains all the info. Thanks in advance for your help - I'm really lost on this one.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply - sorry for not providing that info. It's a 2001 Cross Country wagon. Nothing in the climate unit works at all - no lights shine, no controls (AC, fan, recirc, seat heaters, etc.) work. Everything else in the car works - well actually, the gear shifter light doesn't work anymore either. The 12 volt plug works.

Do any of the other buttons on the botton work?
Like the Valet lock out ETC?

Did you have to open the module to replace lights?

I haven't opnened one as of yet. Or replaced the bulbs as of yet.

Have you had it to the Dealer as of yet?

I don't have any of those other buttons on the bottom - all blanks. Yes, I did have to remove the climate unit to get at the bulbs. But, this is exactly what the dealer told me my mistake was - he said I shouldn't have unplugged it. It would have been pretty hard to get the bulbs out without removing the unit, but I would have rather had that challenge than having to deal with what I am going through now. I have not been to the dealer yet - I just called them today and talked about it.

The modules can be unplugged then plugged back in again.
I don't know why they are saying that.

Did you have to remove any covers to get to the bulbs?
