Cold start problem
I live in NE PA. On cold mornings in my 05 V70, I will turn the key and all I hear is a humming sound, like a fuel pump. However, the the engine does not crank. When I turn the key the second time, the engine cranks with no problem and fires right up.
Some background:
CPO car, bought with 39k now has 114k. All records since new. Has always had every recommended maintenance item performed by dealer or myself. Regular oil changes with synthetic every 5/7 k
The battery, alternator and starter were replaced last year by the dealer
The ignition lock was replaced by the dealer
I have never replaced the fuel filter. I think the dealer said it was in the gas tank on my model.
I do not want to do it if not need if it may be something else. Thanks for any advice!!!

If the car does NOT crank, just sits as dead, you may have a problem with a PNP switch. Haven't heard of the newer models having issues with the PNP but your car has more miles than some.
