Default Do I really need all this work?

My 2000 XC flunked inspection. Check engine light was on. Codes P0422, P0128, P1171. I'm selling the car. I took it to Volvo and they said I needed:

Thermostat and coolant temp sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Breather box assembly faults.
Throttle body cleaning.
Oil pan reseal.

Seems like they're trying to sell me a lot of work. I know that I need the cat conv or it won't pass inspection.

Does the rest of that stuff sound right?

rspi, does it sound like all of that stuff would have to happen in order to pass inspection?

And for future reference, is this the best place to post these types of questions? Seems like there isn't much traffic here...

Well, you had 53 visits to your thread, there is currently 788 people on the site, there is an average of 675 people on the site at a time. If you know of a better place to post let us know.

You probably don't need an oil pan seal to pass the inspection but if it's leaking it does need to be fixed. Nothing on the list seems excessive. The thing about all that stuff is that you can get it all done echonomically. You can also dump the car and not worry about it passing inspection if you don't need the money from the sale of it.

Didn't at all mean to disparage the site. I meant was there a better place on the site for that post? Like in the V70 section.

No matter. Thanks for your response. I am selling the car for $3000 so the next owner will deal with it. I gave them the entire list of things that need to be fixed so the buyer is aware.

Thanks again.

Jeff
