engine miss and smoke sometimes at idle
Hi , new here to forum. I have a 2005 volvo xc 70 with about 123000 miles. Installed new PCV after having blue smoke at idle. Still Have some smoke at idle, a small puff here and there but much improved after the pcv change- not blue anymore -
Just after I changed the pcv, I noticed a slight miss or stutter on speeds above 45 . Again , wasn't everyday . THis weekend, noticed miss about 5 times on a longer highway drive , when attempting to change lanes etc.
I have changed the spark plugs, cleaned MAF sensor. NO CEL.
I checked all hoses, etc today and got down to the turbo. Noticed some some shaft play as when I pushed the vein it would tap against the housing. I don't have any experience with Turbos.
Could the smoke on idle and now the miss be caused by a bad turbo or are there other things I should be looking at? Also, know any good places to get a used Turbocharger for a 2005 volvo xc 70 ?

There are two different reasons for black and white smoke coming from the tail pipe.
Black smoke means fuel runs rich (car getting to much gas). Check fuel pressure/air filter.
In some cases the white smoke means car is burning oil or transmitting fluid. Have them checked/replaced.
If you can feel a smelly smoke it can be catalytic converter.
In a worst scenario if car blowing white smoke it can be engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a bad head gasket ,or a warped/cracked head. So you need to keep your eye on coolant level and check your engine for overheat.
