Car runs fine when I'm driving it but when I come up to a stop light/sign or just taking my foot off the gas, it starts to sputter. When I start it, it does the same thing. It is a 2001 V70 XC with 197,000 miles. Any suggestions?

Just had my 01 XC70 worked on and it is doing about the same thing. Had the water pump, cam seals, timing belt and tensioners and A/C replaced. Today the shop dropped it off at the house and I notice the surging or whatever in park and in drive at a light. Not sure why yet.

 

Sounds like both of your etm's need cleaning.
