I've been interested in volvo's for a while,guess i've just never been willing to pay some of the prices for them.But a 98 v70 xc came up in my area for a reasonable price.The catch is the seller says the exhaust is leaking in the area of the cat,my local,well an in-state volvo dealership is closed right now,would anyone on here roughly know how much it might be for the cat area of the exhaust??? and also,how has parts availability been since volvo was sold to a chinese company???

 

I recently priced a replacement cat (but didn't purchase) for $600 or so. I chose to make my own exhaust (including cat) for much cheaper - and 3 inch! I expect to get $75 for the old cat at the scrapper, so my new exhaust will be quite reasonable.

My old exhaust leaked at the cat, the next pipe section, and the muffler. I was not going to spend $1000 on an exhaust. I paid 650 for the car.
